After weeks of packing, preparing, and planning, we have arrived in Cairo. Thus far it is living up to our expectations: dusty, crowded, fascinating, warm (Egyptians and the weather). In just over a week we have visited the last remaining wonder of the ancient world, cruised the Nile on a felucca, and haggled (and lost) in one of the world's most famous markets, and enjoyed some wonderful meals in some interesting places. We are living in a temporary apartment without internet (no Skype, email) but we will move into our permanent house in mid July and we'll be able to keep in touch with everyone. Until then, we will try to post a few updates on this blog. By the way, the "Sharq" refers to "Al Sharq Al Awsat - The Middle East."
